Make Your Own Sassy Summer Dress!

Jackie O Intermediate Dress Making Class
Tuesday April 12 and 19, 2011
7:00pm-9:00pm
$100+HST

Join Heidi Laing and create your own 60’s style summer dress à la Mad Men! This class will teach you to customize a pattern to fit you, install zippers, and create button loops and tidy hems. This class requires some sewing machine experience. Please bring 2.5m of cotton for your dress along with matching all-purpose thread. All other materials are provided. Please let us know if you need a sewing machine or will be bringing your own.

Adult Beginner Jewellery Class
Wednesday April 13, 2011
6:00-9:00pm
$45+HST

You can learn all of the basics of beaded jewellery making in less than 3 hours! Bridget Remai, co-owner of Flock Boutique, will take you through the basic tools and techniques required to make beaded jewellery. You should leave the class with between 4 and 8 finished pairs of earrings.

Summer Fling Beginner Dress Making Class
Saturday April 16, 2011
10:00am-3:00pm
$100+HST

In this workshop, Heidi Laing will teach you to create your own easy-breasy summer dress that’s just as cute over your suit for a day at the beach as it is for strolling around town. This class will teach you to customize a pattern to fit you, sew French hems, make tidy hems and button holes, create draw strings and bias tape. This class is beginner friendly but some experience with a sewing machine is recommended. Please bring 2.5m of cotton fabric for your dress and a spool of matching all-purpose thread. All other materials are provided. Please let us know if you need a sewing machine or will be bringing your own.

Suitable for ages 6-10

Sign up for art instructor Laura Fauquier’s second class of the year! In this class Laura will take your child on an underwater adventure with a mixed-media aquatic-themed collage. The class will also include a section on pop-up art!

Sign your kids up for a bird-themed painting extravaganza! Laura Fauquier will be running this event and your child will leave with a lovely nature-themed painting to decorate your home!

In this workshop, Heidi Laing will teach you to whip up an apron that will have you looking for excuses to get in the kitchen! Sewing machines will be supplied for use during this course.

Learn to Make A Reversible Purse:
Thursday March 24
6:00-8:00pm
$50+HST

Spring WILL come and you need a light, cheerful little purse. Maybe to hang off your handlebars or prettily on your wrist… Heidi Laing will be teaching this great intro to sewing: come on out beginners! Sewing machines will be supplied for use during this course.

hey ladies! it’s time to make the new year’s resolution of more creativity, more crafting and more fun! here is our january class schedule! all classes will take place in the lovely classroom space in the basement of FLOCK BOUTIQUE at 1275 wellington st. west!

Adult Beginner Jewellery Class
Thursday Jan 27th 6:00-9:00pm
$45+HST

You can learn all of the basics of beaded jewellery making in less than 3 hours! Bridget Remai, co-owner of Flock Boutique, will take you through the basic tools and techniques required to make beaded jewellery for family and friends. All materials will be provided and no experience is necessary… all you need to bring is a bit of creativity and willingness to learn! Feel free to bring in pictures of beaded jewellery that you would like to make. You should leave the class with between 4 and 8 finished pairs of earrings.

Collage for Kids
Sunday January 16 12:30-3:30pm
$20+HST
Suitable for ages 6-10

Meow! Woof! Moo! Baaaaaa! Join collage artist, master weaver and fashion expert Laura Fauquier for an afternoon of animal-themed collage for kids! All materials will be provided and by the end of the afternoon your children will have an exciting mixed-media on canvas product to hang on the wall at home.

Adult Beginner Knitting Class
Tuesday January 18th and 25th, February 1st

Prepare for Ottawa’s coldest days of the year by learning to knit your own winter scarf! Caddy Melville Ledbetter co-author of Warm Knits, Cool Gifts and Mother-Daughter Knits: 30 Designs to Flatter and Fit will guide you through the basics of knitting. All materials will be provided and by the end of the series you will have completed a handmade scarf to keep you cozy in winter!

Mastered stockinette and ready for greater challenges? Join Caddy Melville Ledbetter, co-author of Warm Knits, Cool Gifts and Mother-Daughter Knits: 30 Designs to Flatter and Fit to learn knitting in the round with double point needles. All materials will be provided and by the end of the series you will have created yourself a lovely winter hat!

Have a sewing machine but don’t know how to use it? This class will
familiarize you with your machine and teach you the basics of sewing while making your very own tote bag! The class includes fabric and thread, but if you would like something specific, please feel free to bring your own. Students must bring their own sewing machine and manual.

Earring Love

Learn the basics of jewellery making and go home with a bunch of great earrings!

Spinning *new!
Tuesday, April 29th 6-9pm
$60 + tax, all materials included

Learn to spin yarn on a drop spindle. This 3 hour class will cover the basics of spinning and plying and will include an introduction to different types of fibres available to spinners. The cost of the class includes your own drop spindle to take home, as well as enough wool for a
small project such as a hat. No previous spinning experience required.

Sewing Basics
Wednesday, April 30th 6-9pm
