Workshop

as many of you know, i’m not much of an afternoon blogger.  i tend to get up early in the morning, go into the shop when it’s calm and quiet and wandering around looking at all of the pretty things.  i then usually find something that makes me smile, take a pic of it, and share it with all of you.

today though, my day got off to an early start, followed by much chaos (surrounding the impending de-stash which is getting crazier, better and more exciting by the minute) so i didn’t have a moment to stop, think and share.

then i ran into christina who excitedly showed me pics of a new collection of jewellery we just received! sheena hand casts her jewellery using bits of vintage lace. isn’t that lovely?  these pieces are so unique, i can’t wait to go into the shops and see them in person.  maybe i’ll see you there!

Birds seem to be everywhere these days – in both fashion and home décor. I’ve swooned over bird necklaces and earrings at Workshop and Flock, not to mention those adorable stuffed owls by Tracy Lam and Hilary Cosgrove.

My husband and I recently bought our first house after three years of condo living and my nesting instinct has kicked in – literally.  I have twice as much space as I used to and I’ve been looking to add some feathered creatures to the mix.

as we are a bit older and there are now more than a few mothers among the workshop and flock staff, we wanted to do something very special in recognition of those of you who take on the challenging task of motherhood!  we decided to make some fab little pins and attach them to a 10% off coupon that you can keep (feel free – you deserve it!), or give away to your mother or any other mother-like person in your life who deserves a bit of recognition.  we had a guest helper giving the pins away at flock on mother’s day…the pint-sizer took her job very seriously and refused to leave until her basket was empty!  well done little one!

kudos to the amazing and wonderful erin, who has taken it upon herself to make our customers (and us!) swoon at the very sight of her fantastic displays! she is combing through workshop and flock leaving behind her little trails of loveliness…thanks erin!

Last night my 3 year old and her little 3 year old friend carlo hosted a 35th birthday party for her auntie april (seriously)! not surprisingly, the hit of the party was the lovely fabric banner we bought at Flock, handmade by ottawa’s own katie dutton. lovely katie!

i could fill pages with trip details (like when we almost ran out of gas and ended up hitching to brockville with 40 pairs of candi factory undies and a box of eikcam ceramics) but instead i’ll just tell you all of the lovely goodies that we saw (and bought)!

jennifer glasgow, lovely as ever and in desperate need of a pee break (those shows sure can be long!), was wearing her new jersey dress – super cute, kelly green, with huge pockets and a tree print…undeniably the pick of summer! we should be getting them soon!

candance of candi factory surprised us this show by handing us a huge bag full of her amazing undies! she, as a mother of two (two!) is a busy lady and we were honoured to get them…come over and get yourself a pair, they are certainly back by popular demand!

grace lee, the amazing ceramicist filling much of flock’s housewares section, also gave us a box of goodies – casserole dishes, vases and mugs with lovely and unusual prints…perfect for hosting this summer!

these are only a few of the fab items we brought back and had promised to us at the show – you’ll have to come in and see the rest for yourselves!
